David Farrell wrote this with rhythm front and center. The music switches between very strict, regular rhythms and a more open and free way of experiencing time. The number seven is at the core of the rhyme, and so the music counts to seven frequently-both literal counting, and cycling through a series of seven chords.

David Farrell's music has been performed by the Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra, North/South Chamber Orchestra, Playground Ensemble, Indiana University Symphonic Band, Metropolitan State University of Denver Symphony Orchestra, Sam Houston State University Percussion Group, University of Iowa Center for New Music Ensemble, and University of Illinois Chamber Orchestra.
